TRUSU health and dental plan

Students are automatically enrolled. If you have existing medical coverage, you can opt out. Deadlines for each semester are in effect.


Seeing a doctor

See your family doctor if you have one.

TRU medical clinic

This is not a drop-in clinic — you must make an appointment. Stop in at Old Main 1461, call 250-828-5126 or send email to [email protected].

Free to BC residents with a health care card. Otherwise a fee applies.

HealthLink BC 8-1-1 Services — connect with a a registered nurse, registered dietitian, qualified exercise professional or pharmacist. Available at any time of day or night, every day of the year.


Specialists

Phone or research the type of specialist you seek to see and ask them if a referral is needed. In most cases, seeing a general practitioner is needed for a referral. This can be a lengthy process.


Prescriptions

You can choose to have your doctor send your prescription to a pharmacy of your choice or take the prescription form to any pharmacy.

Most insurers, such as TRUSU’s Greenshield, cover the cost of your prescription. In cases where you must pay for a prescription up front, keep your receipt and submit a claim.
